Competition Season
Winter begins a series of USAC events for open and youth competitors. This past weekend was Bouldering Open Nationals in which Ashima Shiraishi and Sean Bailey were the top finalists. Friday begins Bouldering Youth Nationals where 5 Peak Team members will be vying for first! We wish Del, Nicolas, Paul, Trip, and Tyler the best as they travel out to Oregon. Go Crush!
In January, 2019 Combined Invitational in saw two previous Riverrock competitors, Kyrie Condie and Zach Galla, take first place. This event was designed to help identify who will represent the United States in climbing in the upcoming Olympics.
Bouldering Open Nationals will be re-broadcast on ESPN 2, Feb. 17. To learn more about USAC Competitions and where to watch events visit usaclimbing.org.
USA Climbing Bouldering Divisionals - January 12-13
We will be hosting USA Climbing Bouldering Divisionals January 12-13! Come out and support your local Peak Team and watch some of the best climbers in the country compete for a spot at Nationals!
PeakRVA will be closed January 12-13 but spectators are welcome. The bouldering area at PeakRVA will also be closed beginning Sunday evening January 6 as we set for the competition. Bouldering will reopen on the 14th.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, meal ticket and will be entered into to a raffle. We are giving away 3 pairs of Butora shoes!
Power Company Climbing Workshops Dec. 2-4
We are excited to announce that December 2-4 we will be hosting Nate Drolet from Power Company Climbing at PeakRVA for a series of climbing workshops! Power Company Climbing is a fantastic resource offering proven ebook workouts, custom training plans, and a mobile app. Each workshop is just $50 (day pass included). Class size is extremely limited. Climb Right RVA - A FREE Event at Manchester Wall - Nov. 17 & 18
SATURDAY 11/17 - 10am-4pm. After Party at Vasen Brewery 6-10pm
SUNDAY 11.18 - 11am-3pm
After our Manchester Cleanup on 11/11, we will be hosting Climb Right RVA! This two-day FREE event consists of different climbing clinics at Manchester Wall in the heart of Richmond. We will have certified guides teaching beginner to advanced clinics on belaying, lead climbing, trad gear, movement, cleaning sport routes, rappelling, self-rescues, and more. There will be gear demos and local food and drink vendors as well.
The purpose of this event is to help new climbers on sharpening their abilities. Our goal is to help grow a supportive outdoor climbing community while minimizing risk and installing a strong respect for the environment.
Sign up if you plan to join us at a certain time, BUT, don't stress if you're not sure. There is no requirement to sign up and the class times are estimated, just show up when you can!
*Manchester Wall accessible from T.Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge or south side access.

Manchester Wall Clean Up - 11/11
In anticipation of our free Climb Right RVA event November 17th & 18th, we are coordinating a volunteer cleanup of Manchester Wall and the surrounding areas. Please help out and support your local crag. Clean Up will start at 9am.

AT 6 PM FINALS FOR THE CITIZEN’S COMP WILL BEGIN AND PEAK RVA WILL BECOME MEMBERS ONLY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE EVENING. THERE WILL BE NO CLIMBING AFTER 6 PM.

Due to our Grand Opening and Fall Flash Fest events happening at Peak RVA we will have special gym hours for both locations on Saturday October 20.
-Peak Midlo will be open 10 AM to 5 PM
-Peak RVA will be open 10 AM to 6 PM to the public
At 6 PM finals for the citizen’s comp will begin and Peak RVA will become members only for the remainder of the evening. There will be no climbing after 6 PM.
